AEI’s origins are in the Latrobe Valley, one of Australia’s biggest energy generating regions. We have seen firsthand the impact of rising energy prices and the crippling aftermath of fossil fuel power station closures. As the energy market and its volatility became a hot topic of conversation it sparked the innovative mind of our founder Stephen Soutar who envisaged a more intelligent energy future. A future that would give control and precious time back to the consumer, while simultaneously solving some of the biggest problems that exist for AEMO, network providers and the energy grid.
This was the beginning of AEI.
With over 40 years of electrical and process control engineering experience, Stephen was able to understand the exact pressures being placed on out-dated grid infrastructure and the headaches being created for all players across the network, and set about developing a smarter solution. Following detailed analysis of both the energy marketplace and customer cost dynamics, along with years of research and development, the AEI SmartBox technology was born.
